It began in the night and continued in the early morning. Pink balloons lined main street. Barricades and banners appeared along the waterfront. Trucks, vans, communication equipment and workers filled the Giro start area while official-types buzzed around. The Giro had come to town! It was 5 hours until the official race start.
If you’re a grip, it’s probably much like setting up for the Rolling Stones–work from early morning to noon to set up, take everything down 3 hours later, load it on trucks, drive for 6 hours, and repeat.
